Most of the larger blocks took an hour or two to complete, but it goes fast since some of the colors stitch out for 20 minutes or longer, so I was able to vacuum, cook or work on something else.
It's also cool because it is a quilt-as-you-go project, which is awesome. I still need to add a backing and batting, but that will be stitched in the ditch, so not much time or skill required.
This quilt is for a teacher with whom I co-teach.. She is having a girl and because we teach English class together, I thought the nursery rhymes were a good choice.
I loved making each of the blocks and choosing colors and fabric.
Isn't that monkey cute? A lot of my friends loved that one when I sent them pictures as I was finishing each block.
We are reading To Kill a Mockingbird in 8th grade, so I had to include that block. All I need is backing fabric now. The mom to be is a pizza freak (eats a slice EVERY day-and she's skinny! Kinda want to hate her for that-but she is a wonderfully fun and nice person:) so I have to add something pizza related to the back. Maybe a quilt label with pizza...not sure yet. I love these designs from Anita Goodesigns! I use my embroidery machine almost every day, and this is one of my favorite companies as far as total quilting patterns and projects go. You can do a whole quilt with one disk.
