More Valentines Pillows

Well, today was ANOTHER day off due to snow and ice!  We will have no spring break left at this rate.  On the other hand, I do enjoy being home and doing things that make me happy, like sewing and cooking.  OMG!  I just got a call saying that we are already on a two hour delay for tomorrow!  We are never going to get our units done before state testing!  Sorry...I digress!  Last week I was talking to Colleen at the quilt shop and she was talking about trapunto on the embroidery machine and how much she likes it.  I had been wanting to try it too, so here are some pillows with trapunto pictures.  See how puffy they look?  There is batting under the fabric and all that stitching makes it puff.

Kenny and the dogs spent a few minutes chilling out on the couch.  Kenny was noticing a spider on the ceiling, but we let him live.

This pillow reminds me of my puppy.  I had done the stitching in pink, but it was hard to see so I just stitched over it with tan.  I have two more ready to work on tomorrow night at sit and sew at PQ!
This was another piece of a chenille cutter I got years ago.  I used to go on ebay and buy pieces of chenille bedspreads (cutters because they are not in good shape as a whole, so the seller cuts the good pieces up and sells them) to make pillows, curtains and laundry bags.  I am out of these kinds of pieces now.

Some Valentines pillows

Today we had another snow day thanks to snow and ice this morning.  Now we are at the point that we are losing vacation days in the spring.  It is messing up the drama club practices and our show is this weekend.  We will put the show on this weekend and hope for the best.  The kids have worked hard, so I will be proud no matter how it turns out.  So...I had some sewing time again today and made a few pillows.  I did not buy any new fabric for these.  So far, I am doing all of my sewing with stuff I already have and it feels great!
The chenille on the sides is from an old bedspread I got on eBay years ago,  I made my bathroom curtains with it and saved the rest for projects like this.
Cute, right?  I had fun mailing them and just used my sofa pillow forms instead of buying new ones.  We are expecting another snow storm this weekend, so I have some project ideas in mind already.

Christmas pillows and some easy to make lamps

I finished the pillows and have them all in use!  I am seriously finishing things that I start!  It's a good feeling that I hope I can sustain for a while.
The pillow here is from a cool disc that I got a few months ago.  You actually have to slice the stitching to create the fuzzy look.  I like it a lot

I made these lamps on the mantle last week.  You thread Christmas lights through the hole in the bottom, arrange decorations and other fun stuff in there and it's done, and pretty.

I did one in reds and whites and the other in gold, red and white.

Well, Christmas is already over and done with.  It was such a lovely season, especially since we had snow several times.  Today I was planning to visit the quilt store, but when I got in my truck, the battery was dead.  Perhaps I should not have left the door open for hours so the dogs could sit in there while I did my chores the other day!  There is one quilt I hope to finish this week, so I will work on that today.

Christmas pillow with red ticking!

I am making Christmas pillows today for my dinner guests on Christmas Eve.  The other night I found these cute redwork designs and loved their simplicity.  I stitched out  four and this one goes to my dear friend Debbie.  The cool thing is that I fell in love with this red and white ticking fabric years ago and here it is being used today!  See, it pays to stockpile when you like something.  Anyway, I have it in blue and white and in green and white, so will use some on the other pillows when I finish them later.

Weekend pillow projects

This weekend I made a few Thanksgiving pillows out of embroideries I did last weekend.

This one is for Rob and Ail on Thanksgiving when we have dinner together.

This one is for Evy and Jon.  I thought Evy would like the bright colors of the clothesline!

I had to iron this one after I did the embroidery, but it looks great in person!

Sleepy Hollow pillow done!

Ken decided that he wanted me to make a pillow for his embroidery, so I got a cool dark blue batik and simply framed the image.  I am on a roll with finishing projects this past six months, which makes me happy, happy, happy!  Tomorrow I am going to quilt one of the Halloween quilts I got ready last weekend while I was on a quilting retreat upstate.  That was a wonderful weekend!  I'll post pictures of that tomorrow.
